The release of Junior Cert results has been delayed until Friday October 4th.
It comes just days after the State Examinations Commission provided assurances it would issue a record amount of Leaving Certificate appeals by mid-September.
The Commission says its immediate priority is to issue those 17,000 grades by September 20th - which is 3 weeks earlier than usual.
In a statement, the SEC says schools were notified when the Leaving Certificate Appeals timeframe was reconfigured that there would be an impact on the issue date for the Junior Cycle results.
The SEC is currently in the process of notifying schools of the delay.
