Irish people spent 6.3 billion euro on alcohol last year.
That's according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office published today.
Spending on drink accounted for 7.7 per cent of all personal spending in the country last year.
Conor Cullen from Alcohol Action Ireland says Ireland's spending on alcohol is far too high.
