It's official! Life gets better as we get older.
Quality of life in Ireland peaks at the age of 65 and continues to rise.
TILDA, the Trinity College-based study surveyed over 8 and a half thousand people over 50, every two years, for the past decade.
It also found that people over 50 make a huge contribution to society with 1 in 5 volunteering and 1 in 2 minding grandchildren.
The results are being used to inform social, health and financial policy. For example, researchers are now working with councils to extend pedestrian crossing times, after finding that the green man doesn't hang around long enough for older people.
However, the results aren't all positive, with two-thirds admitting they are only taking low or moderate levels of physical exercise.
64 percent suffer from high blood pressure but 45 percent of those are unaware of their condition.
