Ireland now has the strongest passport in the world.
The Nomad Passport Index for 2025 has placed us in the top spot, followed by Switzerland, Greece and Portugal.
It's the first time the Irish passport has held the position solo, after sharing the top spot with Luxembourg and Sweden in 2020.

European countries hold nine of the top 10 spots, while the US comes 45th.
Afghanistan, Yemen, Eritrea, Iraq and Pakistan were ranked at the bottom of the table of 199 passports analysed.
The ranking looks at factors such as visa-free travel, taxation, global perception, ability to hold dual citizenship and personal freedom.
