Fishermen will meet with the Russian Ambassador this morning to outline their concerns about a live-fire military exercise off the Irish coast.
It's due to take place next month in Ireland's Exclusive Economic Zone, and fishermen have said they plan to protest at sea against it.
The government has also said the drills are "not welcome", however the actions aren't against any international laws.
Patrick Murphy of the Irish South and West Fish Producer's Organisation is among those invited to Dublin by the Ambassador to air his concerns.
"When the talking stops, that's usually when the shooting starts. So what were going to do is talk."
The fisherman said he hopes the Russian ambassador will relay Irish concerns to his superiors.
"Hopefully they will do their upmost to deter from threatening or interfering with all fishing vessels."
Yesterday, the Tánaiste called on the EU to retaliate if Russia invades Ukraine.
Russian forces have been massing on the border of Ukraine, though the country denies any plans for invasion.
Military exercises are also planned by the Russians off the Cork coast next week.
