The country's usually resident population is now just over 5.1 million.
4.4 million of this figure are Irish nationals, while there are over 700,000 non-Irish nationals here.
Since February, thousands of Ukrainians have moved to Ireland seeking refuge from the ongoing war in their own country.
Meanwhile, almost 770,000 people living here are 65 and over, a 22% increase since 2016.
1.45 million people are living in Dublin; which accounts for 28% of the total population.
In the year to April 2022, almost 60,000 people left Ireland to live elsewhere.
While over 120,000 people have moved to Ireland - the highest level of immigration here since 2007.
