It's the largest trad and folk festival in Ireland, but it hasn't run in-person in two years due to the pandemic.
Organiser Martin Harte says it's a great day for the live events and hospitality sectors.
"We have people travelling from America, Germany, Holland and Israel - even with the restrictions people are travelling."
Mr Harte says the enthusiasm from across the world is a "testament to the appeal of trad and folk music".
Events are taking place across the city over the next four nights, in venues including the National Stadium, St Patrick's Cathedral, The Button Factory and pubs dotted around the capital.
