A new report is warning Ireland won't have enough electricity to meet demand for the next five winters.
EirGrid says it's due to the closure of older power plants - and a rise in demand for electricity.
The company says this winter will be challenging, with possible power outages.
Former environment minister, Independent TD Denis Naughten, says the book stops with Minister Eamonn Ryan.
"The first responsibility that he has as Minister for Energy is to ensure that the lights reman on in every home and business across this country."
He says Minister Ryan must focus on the short term transition from fossil to cleaner fuel sources, while keeping "the lights on".
