An investigation has been launched into a suspected arson attack at a garda's home in Dundalk, Co Louth.
Gardai and local fire services responded to the house fire in the Bay Estate area at around 11 pm last night.
The blaze was brought under control by local fire services personnel.
There were no reports of any injuries but significant damage was caused to the exterior of the house.
Gardai say the scene is now being full examined and an investigations into the matter is now underway.
They have launched a witness appeal and are calling on anyone who was in the Bay Estate area between 10.30pm and 11.30pm last night to come forward.
Gardai are also appealing for information on the movements of a white van in the area earlier in the day at around 3pm.
