Intel has confirmed a covid-19 outbreak has been identified at its Leixlip plant in Kildare.
The outbreak has taken place at one of the construction sites on campus.
In a statement, the chip manufacturer says it's been told by its main construction contractor that over the weekend a number of people working at the site in Leixlip had tested positive for COVID-19.
Intel understands the number of positive cases to be approximately 70, but it is a fluid situation.
The company says it is now working to support the construction team in whatever way it can - to understand what has happened and how it can be addressed.
For all confirmed cases, contact tracing was conducted and any other workers who may have been exposed have been required to self-quarantine and monitor their health.
Additional testing of workers at the construction site is being carried out.
The outbreak comes just a week before we're due to find out whether the government will allow the full construction sector to reopen next month.
