Instagram has introduced a new feature for people to help curtail their phone activity.
The 'Take a break' initiative will see users sent notifications to pause their use.
Users can set a daily limit of Instagram screen time or opt to take a break for a certain period.
Tech correspondent Jess Kelly says it shows Instagram is taking accountability.
"It seems to be a direct response to some of the claims we'd heard from the whistleblower earlier this year.
"I think its a good move, I don't think it's the perfect solution, but I do think its Instagram acknowledging there's more they can do."
In October, Facebook, which owns Instagram was accused of knowingly harming children's mental health - including directing young users to anorexia content.
Employee-turned-whistleblower Frances Haugen told a US Senate committee that its platforms - including Instagram - also deliberately stoke political division.
