Waiting lists for rape crisis centres around the country are getting longer and there’s been an increase in the number of young people seeking help.
That’s according to new figures compiled by the Irish Independent.
Social media, awareness of services and a better understanding of consent are being credited for the increase.
175 people are on the waiting list at the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre with some people waiting up to 8 months to be seen.
Counselors around the country have reported children as young as 12 reaching out.
