An eight-year-old child from Limerick has written a letter to a Ukrainian MP, and said "I'm really sorry about the war."

Lesia Vasylenko, who is a member of Parliament in Ukraine described the letter from the child who is only identified as Iris, as "an example to follow.
Iris also included some money to help Ukrainians.
In the letter Iris wrote:
"Dear Ukraine, my name is Iris.
"I'm really sorry about the war. I'm not from Russia. I'm from Limerick.
"I hope most of you survive. The money I give you was all of mine.
"Love Iris - Get Better Soon."
The war in Ukraine has entered it's 16th day with well over 2 million people fleeing the country since the invasion by Russia started 16 days ago, according to the UN.

More than 2,500 Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Ireland since the start of the war in their home country with the numbers expected to continue to increase in the coming weeks.
