A weather warning for low temperature and ice for the entire country has been extended to midnight on Thursday night.
Met Éireann is warning of very cold nights this week with with widespread frost, ice and lying snow.
Temperatures will struggle to get above freezing during the day, and the forecaster is also warning of travel disruption.

The Road Safety Authority is urging drivers, pedestrians and other road users to take extreme care amid hazardous travelling conditions on roads and foothpaths.
Most schools are expected to open today but it's reported schools in counties Carlow and Kilkenny will close, and most schools in Co Kildare.
Uisce Éireann has said it's working to restore supply to homes and businesses affected by a loss of water supply in counties Cork, Limerick, Kerry and Tipperary.

Meanwhile, the ESB is warning more power outages could be on the way, with 41,000 homes, farms and businesses impacted by ongoing electricity outages.
Counties Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow, Laois and Wicklow have so far been worst-affected by power cuts.
An Post has said it will not be possible to make letter or parcel deliveries on the majority of postal routes in counties Cork, Kerry, Kilkenny, Limerick, Tipperary and some parts of Wicklow. The postal service says deliveries will be attempted where it's safe to do so, if conditions improve.
Post office services in affected counties have also been affected due to power cuts. However, some offices may be able to open later today once power and access is restored locally.
