The husband of Patricia Kierans has been charged with her murder.
Oliver Kierans appeared before a special stiting of Cavan District Court, where he was also charged with possession of a firearm.
The 56 year old made no response when charged.
Judge Sean MacBride recommended that a physical and psychiatric evalutation be carried out on the accused.
It was also recommended that Mr Kierans be placed on suicide watch.
Patricia Kierans, a mother of four, was found dead at their home in Drumbannon, Bailieboro last Thursday.
Oliver Kearns was remanded in custody.
He will appear in court again on Friday morning.
