Hundreds Of Jobs To Go At TikTok In Ireland
TikTok looks set to cut hundreds of jobs from its Dublin base.
This is as the company goes through a global re-structuring project.
However the platform is seeking to re-deploy about 70 percent of the affected staff members across the world.
TikTok says it remains committed to Ireland, and is still hiring for multiple other roles in Dublin.
Meanwhile, the social media company is facing an "in-depth" investigation into potential breaches of new European online rules.
The Digital Services Act applies to online platforms, which means TikTok must comply with a series of obligations.
The European Commission will now look into elements of that, such as age verification, privacy for minors, and transparency around adverts.
If TikTok is found guilty of breaching the rules, it could be fined up to six percent of its global turnover.
