The HSE says Ireland's hospitals are set to overspend yet again this year.
Its latest monthly report, based on data from the first five months of the year, says hospitals will overspend by around 75 million euro.
The HSE says hospital staff have been asked to find extra areas where costs can be cut.
The agency ran up a €50 million deficit between January and May.
However it says it's confident that its overall budget will be break-even by the end of the year, thanks largely to the recent public sector pay cuts.
Last year the HSE needed a supplementary budget of €360 million after dramatically overspending on its original budget of €12.1 billion.
