The head of the HSE insists 600,000 doses of the flu vaccine have not gone missing.
Paul Reid's comments come following reports this morning that suggested they had not been accounted for.
The HSE has told doctors and pharmacists that 1.3 million doses have been sent out.
However, only 700,000 of them have been recorded as being given to patients.
The HSE says the outstanding number may have not been given to patients yet, or doctors might not have applied for reimbursement yet.
CEO Paul Reid has told the Oireachtas Health Committee how the issue has come about:
"There are no missing vaccines, there is always a lag delay between people registering with PCRS - for reimbursement to GP's. We just want to see where the allocation is and where to prioritise the final distribution".
