The head of the HSE is asking the public to "bear with" the challenges currently facing the covid-19 vaccine rollout.
Paul Reid says they always said the plans would "have many twists and turns in Q1", but they have managed to meet the challenges so far.
In a tweet, he insists the latest challenges will also be met:
We've always been clear that the #COVID19 vaccine roll out, will have many twists and turns in Q1. So far we've met all challenges in a safe, effective, secure & timely manner. Our plan is to meet the latest changing requirements in the same way. Bear with us for now. @HSELive

His comments come after it was decided that the AstraZeneca vaccine will not be used for over-70s in the majority of circumstances.
The AstraZeneca vaccine is considered easier for GPs to administer as it doesn't need to be kept as cold as the others.
Last night, Taoiseach Micheal Martin said this poses significant logistical challenges to the HSE.
However, GPs insist they will be able to get over the issues posed.
Meanwhile, Minister for Older People Mary Butler says the vaccination of over-85s is expected to go ahead as planned this month.
