Threshold says an average of 472 private renters a month are contacting its services as they're facing eviction.
The national housing charity's advisors are answering one call every twenty minutes from people receiving notices to quit from their landlords.
60% of eviction notices issued to renters were because the landlord intended to sell the property.
1,384 private renters contacted Threshold after they received a notice of termination from their landlord. Threshold says its advisors found 46% of the notices were invalid.
Threshold supported a total of 8,835 households in the first nine months of the year. The charity's advisors answered over 12,000 calls and responded to over 2,500 webchats from private renters.
The renters' advocacy group says between July and September, it prevented 1,121 households from entering homelessness, including 1,758 adults and 1,185 children.
