Household net wealth is at a record high, at just over €1 trillion.

The quarterly financial accounts published by the Central Bank show the rise in the value of housing is the main reason behind the increases in net wealth.
Household net wealth reached a record high of just over €1 trillion in the first quarter of the year.
That's an increase of €19.6 billion.
The bank acknowledges this growth may not reflect the experiences of all households or the distribution of wealth.
An increase of €4.2 billion in financial assets in quarter one of 2022, is mainly related to investment in currency and deposits of €2.8 billion, with investment in new housing remaining steady at €2 billion.
Government debt declined by €10 billion in the same period and now stands at €239 billion.
