The cost of a house or apartment rose by almost 11% in the year to August, according to the Residential Property Price Index.
In Dublin, the price of a house or apartment increased by 10.2%, while outside the capital they jumped by 11.5%.
CSO figures show the highest price rise in Dublin was in South Dublin at over 12%.

Outside Dublin, the largest increase in house prices was in the border region, at over 20%.
Prices in Dublin have jumped by more than 100% since 2012, while in the rest of the country they've increased by a similar amount from when they were lowest, which was May 2013.
