House Prices Higher Than The Celtic Tiger

House prices are higher now than during the peak of the Celtic Tiger boom.

The average price of a house in the last year was €327,000.

The CSO has released its latest Residential Property Price Index up to December 2023.

Outside Dublin the Midlands saw the biggest increase - this covers counties Laois, Longford, Offaly, and Westmeath.

There were a total of 50,234 properties bought across the country last year - with first time buyers accounting for over 34% of that.

The most expensive Eircode was Blackrock in Dublin, with Castlerea in Roscommon the cheapest.

Meanwhile the highest average price spent by buyer was also found in Dublin at €622,500 in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.
