House Price Rises Higher In West Of The Country In 2023
A new report has found counties in the west of the country saw the highest rises in house prices last year.
The latest figures from Daft.ie also found nationally, prices rose by 3.4% last year - the smallest increase since 2019.
The property listings website also found overall, the typical asking price was just over €320,046 euro during the last three months of 2023.
Author of the report, and economist at Trinity College Dublin, Ronan Lyons, says price rises in Dublin were below the 3.4% average.
"That's the national average, and it does differ quite a bit when you look at different parts of the country.
"So in Dublin, prices rose by less than that, by about 2%. And more or less, the further west you go, the more prices increase.
"So if you look at Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal, they saw another year of double digit increases of 10 to 11% in those three counties.
"They're probably at the upper end. Most counties, west of the River Shannon, 5 or 6% increases."
