Groups representing hotels and the tourism sector will defend high accommodation prices when they appear before TDs and Senators today.
It follows accusations of price gouging, with people reporting being charged hundreds of euro for a one-night hotel stay, when big events are on.
Hotel bosses say bed shortages and strong demand means many average-priced hotel rooms sell out months in advance.
The Oireachtas Tourism Committee will hear later from the Irish Hotels Federation, Fáilte Ireland and the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation.
Chair of the Committee, TD Niamh Smyth says some hotel prices are simply unaffordable:
"It does make it very difficult for people who are going to concerts or whatever it may be."
They're being asked to pay €300 in some cases, it's beyond most people's reach to pay that kind of money."
The Fianna Fail TD added the high hotel prices, coupled with recent delays in Dublin Airport, tarnishes the country's image for international tourists.
