The highest rate of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) is going to be restored.
It will go back to €350 for those who were earning more than €400 a week before losing their job.
The decision has been driven by the fact level 5 restrictions will mean a significant number of job losses.
It means there will be four bands of PUP.
The minimum payment will remain €203 a week, while there will also be other rates of €250, €300 & €350.
244 thousand people will receive the PUP tomorrow, which is 15 thousand more than last week.
The numbers claiming the payment peaked in May, when more than 600,000 people were on the PUP.
