The Health Minister says he believes the new National Children's Hospital DOES represent good value for money.
Simon Harris says the decision to go ahead with the project despite massive overruns is the best choice for the taxpayer.
He was explaining to an Oireachtas committee why the cost has risen to over €1.7 billion.
Harris faced more than four hours of questions this morning.
Fianna Fáil's Stephen Donnelly asked whether Simon Harris believed the cost of the hospital was a reasonable price.
Simon Harris reponded:
"I do. I wish it could be cheaper, but I do.
He continues by saying "If I didn't the government wouldn't have pressed go to proceed with the construction"
