The Garda Watchdog received 24 protected disclosures from gardaí last year.
Under the Protected Disclosures Act 2014, Gardai may confidentially disclose allegations of wrongdoings within the organisation.
The figures are contained in GSOC’s 2018 Annual Report on Protected Disclosures which has now been published.
According to the report, GSOC's Protected Disclosures Unit dealt with 49 disclosures in total, with 25 being carried over from 2017.

13 of the cases were discontinued at some point during the year owing to a variety of factors.
The remaining cases were still being investigated at the close of 2018.
