There are calls for a roadmap to be announced by Cabinet at the end of August on lifting restrictions at Maternity Hospitals.
It comes after the National Maternity Hospital at Holles Street in Dublin issued updated visitor guidelines for partners.
Visiting for inpatients is unrestricted for partners from 8am to 9pm Monday to Saturday.
For women who are in labout there are no restrictions.
But this isn't the case elsewhere.
Better Maternity Care campaigner, Linda Kelly, says the 19 maternity units in Ireland are operating under "19 different sets of restrictions".
"Women in Limerick only have access to support from a partner for 45 minutes in a postnatal ward," she said.
The group are among those calling for the situation to be brought to an end as a matter of urgency.
