Grocery inflation is at its lowest level in a year - but is still at 11.5%.
Kantar figures show the increase in costs in stores is still well above the levels of inflation in the economy.
The increase in supermarket prices is measured over the past three months.
It shows prices went up by 11.5% - which is lower the the peak a few months ago of 16%.
The cost of living continues to bite shoppers as the sales of own-brand products continues to rise at a rate double of brands.
While Kantar says back to school has had an impact on habits - with over €3m spent on cheese and bread in September.
