The government says the country is in a very delicate position in its fight against Covid-19.
Over the past week, 362 people have tested positive for the virus with an increased number of cases among workplace settings and vulnerable groups.
According to the latest figures 5 people are now receiving treatment in intensive care units, while 10 people who contracted the virus are in hospital.
On Tuesday, the government announced it would not be proceeding to phase four of easing restrictions as planned.
Government official Elizabeth Canavan is urging the public to remain vigilant in a bid to suppress the coronavirus:
"Now is just not the time to relax our efforts. Now is the time to hold firm. The most important thing we can do at this time is to continue to defend ourselves, our loved ones and our communities as best we can against covid-19."
Canavan says "We are at a very delicate position n terms of the virus and our progress continues to depend on our collective individual actions".
