The Government is expected to ask the Troika for a 10 billion euro credit line as it bids to leave the bailout by the end of the year.
The measure would be used as a precaution in case an unforeseen crisis drives up borrowing costs.
Finance Minister Michael Noonan told the Irish Independent that he believes the 10 billion euro credit line would never need to be drawn down.
Business journalist Ian Guider says it's likely that the Government's request will be granted.
