There's a call for people to show more empathy towards those who've lost their animals.
A Pet Memorial service will get underway at 3 o'clock this afternoon at the Dublin Unitarian Church on St.Stephen's Green.
Owners will be able to show photos of their animals who've passed to be included in a memorial video to be shown today.
Organiser of the Pet Memorial, Amanda Large, says people shouldn't feel they can't grieve for their pets.
She says people need to bring their grief out in the open and not feel like they will be judged.
Amanda thinks we have come a long way in Ireland and we can talk about almost anything including grief over the death of a pet.
The Pet Memorial is to make people 'feel comfortable about saying they are hurting' over the loss of an animal and that they can do so publicly.
