With the All-Ireland football final just nine days away, the mayors of Dublin and Kerry are getting in on the action.

Dublin's Lord Mayor Paul McAuliffe got the first dig in overnight, sending his Kerry counterpart a cheeky invitation to the Mansion house on match-day.

The invitation did come with a few tactical typos - with the letter 'S' consistently swapped out for the number '5.'

He may or may not have been referring to the Dublin team's drive for five All-Ireland championships in a row.

Kerry Mayor Niall Kelleher was quick to accept the invite, requesting a room facing the 37 Dawson Street bar.

He said he hopes the owners didn't name it after the number of times Kerry have won the All-Ireland - unless they 're prepared to update it in a couple of weeks time.

He returned the invite to Mayor McAuliffe and said he should have no difficulty finding his way to Kerry.

"Just follow Sam down the road when he's travelling home," he wrote. "He knows the way fierce well."

Dublin and Kerry meet in the All-Ireland final at Croke Park on Sunday September 1st.
