Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch has been arrested in Spain, in connection with the Regency Hotel shooting.
The criminal was found by police in the Fuengirola area yesterday afternoon after a European Arrest Warrant was issued in April.
His extradition was sought by gardaí investigating the incident.
Kinahan gang member, David Byrne, was murdered in the Dublin hotel in 2016.
Irish Independent journalist Paul Williams, who wrote a book about the 58-year-old, says the gang leader has been missing since April.
"There's a lot of surprise that he was caught in the Costa Del Sol because it's the last place people would expect him to lie low."
The crime boss is due in court in Madrid.
