The gates at Government Buildings on Merrion Street in Dublin city have been damaged in an apparent ramming overnight.
Images show damage to a white van at the Department of the Taoiseach and at the Office of the Attorney General - with at least three separate gates damaged - one of them was taken of its hinges.
Gardaí say the incident happened at around 2.30 am on Friday. The scene has been sealed off and a man has been arrested.
The man, who's aged in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act and is being held at a garda station in Dublin city.
The scene on Merrion Street has been sealed off and technical examination is due to place this morning.
Damage to gates at Áras an Uachtaráin in the Phoenix Park and the Department of Housing at the Custom House have also been damaged overnight.
