Gardai in Cork have begun an investigation after a French man was fatally injured in a hit and run incident in the city centre last night.
The man in his 20s was struck by a white Transit van that didn't stop as he was walking on George's Quay in the south inner city at around 9.30pm.
The injured man was rushed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
