A total of 8 people have died on Irish roads in the last week
Gardai have issued a new alert this evening asking road users to take extra care for the rest of the Bank Holiday weekend.
It follows the deaths of 8 people on Irish roads in the last week.
This morning, a man in his 20s died in a car crash on the Thurles Road in Tipperary, while a cyclist died after being hit by a car near Beaufort in Kerry.
Moyagh Murdock from the Road Safety Authority is also asking motorists to be mindful:
"This weekend, we'll see lots of people out enjoying the weather: pedestrians, cyclists, people out walking. We urge all road users, in particular motorists and drivers of large vehicles, to make sure to give them a safe passing distance; that they slow down when they see them ahead and give them at least 1.5 metres if they're passing them and just be safe out there."
