A man in his 20s remains in Garda custody following the fatal stabbing of a man in Skerries, Co Dublin yesterday evening.
55 year old Michael Gannon from Finglas was stabbed after he answered the door while babysitting his grandchildren at his daughters home.
Mr Gannon from Finglas was found dead at his daughter's house in Mourne Park in Skerries at around 6 o'clock yesterday evening.
He had been at the house to babysit his grandchildren.
Gardai believe he answered the door to his attacker before being stabbed to death.
A man in his late 20s was arrested a short time later nearby - it's understood he was known to the victim.
He's being held at Ballymun Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy is expected to carry out a post mortem examination on the remains this morning - the results of which will determine the direction of the investigation.
