Gardaí are understood to be investigating whether a murder in north Dublin yesterday is linked to two other shootings in the area over the weekend.
29 year-old James Whelan was found shot dead on a footpath on Deanstown Avenue in Finglas in the early hours of yesterday morning.
His death is being linked to an ongoing feud between two rival gangs.
John Hand, Chief Reporter with The Irish Mirror, says the killing represents a major escalation in the feud.
"Whelan had been in one of these gangs before he jumped ship and went to another gang"
"In recent months he had been subject to a number of threats on social media."
A post mortem's been completed on the body but the results aren't being released for operational reasons.
