Gardai in Athlone have arrested three men in relation to a series of death threats made over social media in recent days.
The men were arrested after a number of searches were carried out in the town this morning.
Gardai had been searching for weapons that were displayed in the videos and the devices used to record them.
Gardaí in Athlone are investigating a number of threats to kill and cause serious harm to persons made on social media over the past few days.
One male is in his late 40’s and the other two males are in their 20’s have been arrested.

A number of electronic devices and weapons were seized during the searches.
Three men from the Athlone area were also arrested.
One of the men is in his late 40’s while the other two are in their 20’s.
Gardaí say the men may be connected to a recent serious incident in Co. Fermanagh, in which a 13-year-old girl was attacked with a machete.
