Gardai in Co. Kerry have launched an investigation after the body of a woman in her 70's was discovered.
The body of 75 year old Miriam Burns was discovered yesterday afternoon at her home just outside Killarney, after family and friends reported they couldn't get in contact with her.
Investigators were reportedly 'alarmed' at the circumstances in which they found her remains.
Gardai have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries in the area.
Detectives are said to be treating the death of the pensioner as 'unexplained' and are waiting for post mortem results to determine the course of their investigation.
