'GAA Catfish' Case Involving Teacher And School Resolved

Court proceedings involving a teacher - who claims she was wrongly identified as the "GAA Catfish" - and the school she teaches in have been struck out.

Niamh Farrell, of The Spires, Portadown, County Armagh, had taken High Court action against the board of management of Colaiste Eanna in Rathfarnham, who had been engaged in disciplinary proceedings.

Niamh Farrell denies she is the so-called "GAA Catfish", which became infamous following a series on the popular 2 Johnnies podcast.

Previously, Ms Farrell had received a temporary injunction to halt disciplinary proceedings against her by Colaiste Eanna in Rathfarnham, where she is a music and Irish teacher.

The disciplinary process arose as a result of allegations online that she was catfishing various individuals.

Before the High Court this morning, counsel for Ms Farrell - Conor Power - said the matter had been ‘fully resolved’ and asked for the case to be struck out.

He said the school had ceased disciplinary proceedings.
Barra Faughnan SC, for the school, replied, ‘this is correct’.

The case was struck out by Judge Brian Cregan, and an order for Ms Farrell’s costs was made.
