In the European elections, while all seats in the other constituencies have been filled, three MEPs have yet to be elected in Ireland South.

A full recount is to take place there after a request by Sinn Féin's Liadh Ni Riada late last night.

She's only around 300 votes behind the Green Party's Grace O'Sullivan in the race for the last seat.

Fine Gael's Sean Kelly and Fianna Fail's Billy Kelleher have already been elected - and independent Mick Wallace, as well as Fine Gael's Deirdre Clune, are also expected to take up a seat in Brussels.

That left a race between two candidates for the last seat - Sinn Féin's Liadh Ni Riada managed to close the gap to the Green Party's Grace O'Sullivan to just 327 votes.

After conversations with the returning officer, the announcement came that a full recount will take place.

This morning, a recheck of every bundle of votes will get under way to make sure they're all in the right place.

That'll be followed by the full recount of all 750,000 votes - expected to start on Tuesday.

Sinn Féin will have to make a call on whether to go ahead with the full recount if they think Liadh Ní Riada can get ahead - or to call the whole thing off.
