Fuel Prices Fall For The Third Month In A Row
Petrol and diesel prices have dropped for the third month in a row.
It now costs €1.72 cent per litre for both, with petrol down 8 cent, and diesel down 9 cent.
The situation in the Middle East however remains unstable, which could affect prices.
But Blake Boland from the AA says the drop is welcome news for motorists:
"We are not seeing the upward pressure that we had been expecting coming into Christmas, where there were actual fears of us reaching close to €2 per litre.
"So cuts in supply by some OPEC countries haven't had the impact that was expected.
"Other countries saw high prices - the likes of Libya and the US - and increased their production to offset some of that.
"So as a result, we're starting to see a little bit of downward pressure on those prices."
