All private cars are now banned from Dublin's College Green.
The expansion of the bus corridor to 24-hours a day means only public transport can use the roads around the area.
Brendan O'Brien, Head of Technical Services, at Dublin City Council, says the ban on private cars has been expanded to seven days a week to take in evenings and weekends.
"From today, the college green bus gate has been expanded to become a 24-hour, seven days a week public transport facility.
"So it's public transport, pedestrians, cyclists, Luas, etc, so private cars can't go through it.
"The bus gate was previously 12-hours a day from 7am to 7pm, but that's been expanded to 24-hours a day, seven days a week".
Don't forget! As of this morning, the expansion of the College Green Bus Gate begun this morning, 29th May 2023.

Mr O'Brien, says drivers should already be familiar with how to navigate around the area.
"There are well known diversion routes around the area, so it's not a huge change for people. Most people would've known how to get around the bus gate during the [previous] hours of operation.
"So now it's simpler, I suppose. In one sense it just says, look, there isn't a time when [private cars] can drive through the bus gate".
