Four men facing offences in relation to the abduction and false imprisonment of Kevin Lunney are also now charged with assault causing serious harm.
The Chief Operating Officer of Quinn Industrial Holdings was allegedly abducted from his home near Derrylin, Co. Fermanagh last September.
Kevin Lunney claims he was abducted by a gang outside his family home as he drove home from work on September 17th last.
The father-of-six claims he was then physically assaulted before being left by the side of a road in Cavan two and a half hours later.
Luke O’Reilly from Mullahoran Lower, Kilcogy, Co. Cavan; Darren Redmond and Alan O’Brien, both from East Wall in Dublin were previously charged with assault causing harm and false imprisonment.
A fourth man is also facing the same charges, but he can’t be named for legal reasons.
All four were back in court today. Their assault charge was upgraded to a Section 4 assault, which is an assault causing serious harm.
Cavan District Court also heard they are to be tried before the non-jury Special Criminal Court in Dublin.
