Gardaí said four men entered a petrol station in Clonroche at 10 am this morning armed with what witnesses described as a handgun.
The suspects threatened staff before leaving the scene in what is believed to have been a silver Hyundai car. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
During a follow-up operation, Garda Roads Policing Units saw a car travelling towards Dublin on the M9 motorway.
The Emergency Response Unit intercepted the car at the ‘Perpetual motion’ landmark near Naas on the M7.
Four men who were travelling in the car were arrested.
All four, one aged in his 30s, two in their 40s and one in his 50s, are being held at Garda stations across Wexford under the Offences against the State Act.
