Madra Dog Rescue is urgently seeking a foster home for two dogs whose owner died in tragic circumstances.
Zara and Twinkle are described as friendly, happy, and well-loved.
The charity is looking for the female dogs to be homed together in a house with a secure garden.
Zara is a German Shephard and it's believed Twinkle is a Collie Terrier mix. They're based in a rural area in Co Galway.
Madra says while the photos show the dogs chained, they were not usually kept this way, and they were constantly in and out of their owner's house and travelled everywhere with him.
URGENT
We received an upsetting call about a man who died in very tragic circumstances, leaving his two canine companions behind. 1/8 pic.twitter.com/YOk2D5XSTY— MADRA (@MADRADogRescue) November 26, 2020
Co-founder of Madra, Marina Fiddler, says they're very stressed following the death of their owner:
"They had been there for a day or two without any attention. They had been living in a rural environment so it's very important that we minimise the stress to them, so bringing them to our kennel facility would be a step too far for them. We're just reaching out in the hope that somebody can just give them a quiet place; where we can keep them safe and assess them better, and let them decompress a little bit and then we can rehome them, either together or separately."
