Former RTE Board Chair 'Can't Stay Silent' About 'Enforced Dismissal'

Former Chair of the RTE Board Siún Ní Raghallaigh says she cannot remain silent about her "enforced dismissal.

Siún Ní Raghallaigh issued a comprehensive account of her take on the controversy engulfing the broadcaster - which resulted in her resigning from her position.

That came after Minister Catherine Martin failed to express confidence in her in a television interview.

In the wide ranging statement she said it was her experience over the past 15 months of a Minister actively taking a hands off approach whilst delegating through her officials.

Ms Ní Raghallaigh insists that when she realised she had given the wrong information about exit packages to Minister Catherine Martin , she notified the Department she wanted to make a clarification.

The former chair believes the questions posed to her in relation to exit packages from October were left of field and rehashing an issue already dealt with. To raise it five months later was baffling to her.

Ms Ní Raghallaigh also says that if the Minister had decided that she no longer wanted her as Chair that it her privilege -but she couldn't remain silent about the manner of her enforced dismissal which seemed to traduce her reputation.
